We were so pleased with our choice to stay in Prati. This hotel, which has been in the same family for over 100 years, is on a nice quiet street and walkable to all the major sites. We loved the terrace too and meeting the resident car and turtle.

The Vatican
The world’s smallest state is also one of its most attraction-packed spots. As the center of the Catholic Church, Vatican City is full of breathtaking religious architecture and artistic treasures. Must-sees include the imposing St. Peter’s Basilica—so vast that the Statue of Liberty could fit comfortably under its dome—and the mesmerizing frescoes at the Sistine Chapel.

Basilica closed due to the Conclave.
Basilica closed due to the Conclave. Museum was awesome, but tour guide moved us through the throngs of visitors so quickly we couldn't really focus on the amazing exhibits. Interesting to note, they keep the windows open without glass or screens. Very old school - we liked it.

You will need at least a couple of hours to walk around the Vatican museums. It's one way system around the museums and is quite hot in some areas. We made the mistake of a tour round St Peters Basilica first and it was too much to do both in one day.

Large crowds, barriers everywhere, ticket touts, huge queues. About the same as all the other tourist traps now, sadly. If you want to tick it off your bucket list, if you are Catholic, if you sincerely love art, then go ahead and spend a few hundred $'s on entry fees for the family to see everything. Having already 'done' Florence, Venice and Paris on this trip I was happy to leave it.

A beautiful place to visit and uniquely its own territory within Rome (make sure to bring your passport). I would not advise having a stroller if you plan to go inside to see the Sistine Chapel but definitely worth the trip.

This was one of the few things in Italy that we splurged on for a guide. It was worth it, not only for her knowledge but for negotiating the entry. It was mobbed at 8 a.m. we spent 2 plus hours on the tour and another 2 hours on our own, without getting nearly done with everything in the museum. It is huge. The Sistine Chapel is a silent zone. Have an audio tour with you. Rick Steve’s is great and free.

Spacious apartment, one bedroom with a queen bed, the second bedroom has two twin beds, and the large living room has a sofa bed. The area is safe, quiet, near Cipro metro and bus 492. it is about 20 min bus ride plus bus wait to downtown Rome. Walking distance to the Vatican. There is a great colorful produce market on the next block, Many good restaurants, coffee shops, pizzeria, and gelato nearby. the hosts are accessible.
Price/quality is good. The room is really nice. It’s not really a B&B but a part of apartment in a resident building. Pity no breakfast was provided. Fabio and son Jacopo are great and help you with advice on transport. Location is behind the Vatican. The main reason to take a room here is price. In Belgium or Germany this room would be considered as overpriced but staying a night in Rome is always overpriced. All in all I would recommend if money matters to you 🙂
We found the Piccolo to be in a very convenient neighborhood walking distance to the Vatican and close to a Metro station. Renata was very helpful with telling us how to reach the hotel and was easily reached to answer questions. We had a small balcony off our room which we I enjoyed in the mornings and was great as a place to sit and unwind at the end of a busy day. We had a great stay in Rome and we found the Piccolo perfect for our needs.
Spacious apartment in a fantastic location close to the Vatican. The neighborhood was beautiful and quieter than other areas in Rome, which made it a nice escape after a long day touring the city. Easily walkable to the metro as well as the walking bridge. The self check-in was also great.
The apartment has a quite sizeable area for a couple, or even three people. It was super clean, with good light and located in a great area. Close to the Vatican by walking and to the center of Rome easily by a 15min bus. Also, the restaurants nearby have a decent price and added a lot of value to the place itself, since I would eat out everyday for a decent price tag.
Cute little place. Was a great location across street from the Vatican. Had a Bus stop right in front of the apartment which was nice. Lots of places for food nearby as well. Made a great base camp for our week in Rome and surrounding area.
Nice apartment right off the main road, access to lots of bus lines to take you anywhere in Rome. Communication with the owner was easy, and she recommended a great restaurant with true Roman food and character. Close to the river, and the Vatican not far away.
Very nice apartment conveniently located to bus transportation as well as in walking distance from the Vatican.
A nice, quiet place to return to after the hustle and bustle of exploring Rome!
Couldn't have been happier with our stay in this lovely apartment in Rome. The host greeted us upon arrival and took his time to walk us around the apartment which was very conveniently located near the Vatican, the castle, and local transportation. Restaurants and shopping were within walking distance. The apartment itself was large and beautiful and clean. Probably one of the best places that we stayed during our two week trip abroad. Highly recommend.
Location for visiting the Vatican is ideal.
The apartment is bright and cozy and comfortable. There were 3 of us and we were very comfortable.
We recommend you stay when visiting Rome and we would stay there again too.
