Bari is amazing.
Bari is amazing. There is so much to see and do in Bari (and so many things to eat!) and it is such a great place to base yourself for day trips , (I used bus and train) to surrounding towns and attractions. A walking food tour is essential for both the food and fascinating info about Bari. Most things are in walking distance from Bari vecchia, including the waterfront and train station. Antica Salumeria Di Nicola Lapesara, Tranquillo wine Bar and La bul are highly recommended.Guest review byLisaNew Zealand - Review score
Lecce has everything.
Lecce has everything. A blend of history and modern places and lifestyles. It is charming and the people all go out of their way to please. It is very walkable and several tours are offered and conducted by brilliant guides. Shopping has a wide range of items to interest all ages. Be sure to go to Info tab tour company and meet Michelangelo and his wife Patrizia and al his staff and have them give you the best ideas. Monopoli is a vibrant Italian city with an amazing historic old town, which is much less touristy then Polignano a Mare, yet just as pretty! It's just a short train ride from the Bari airport, and is the perfect city for a 3-4 days long holiday. Has a couple of sandy beaches if you'd be travelling with kids and also a bunch of great local restaurants. Great prices and lovely people – a must visit in Puglia!Guest review byDorottyaHungary - Review score

Welcoming little town with a charming medieval village, bubbly squares and stunning view points from the cliffs to the great blue sea below. Water is clear, you can see fish from outside the water! great temperature for swimming, even in May. Easy to walk around to the historical centre and to the Ermit island, on the paved pathway. Great food, amazing coffee and stunning ice-creams! Plus… it’s the land of Domenico, so it’s impossible not to sing Volare oh oh oh along as you go. Poetry can be found in nearly every little corner on the medieval town… truly relaxing and inspiring place. Also easy access by train from Bari and by car to Alberobello and Castellana Grotte!Guest review byDeboraUnited Kingdom - Review score

Ostuni was such a surprise. It was delightful.
Ostuni was such a surprise. It was delightful. We enjoyed exploring its narrow streets both on foot and with a guide in an electric tuk tuk. It suited our taste because it was not too smart or commercialised.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - Review score

We stayed 5 nights. Overall we stayed 3 weeks in Salento. Otranto is a good base to visit key sites. We stayed in Gallipoli too for a few nights which was great (try the Sea Garden), but preferred Otranto overall - an amazing city/town.Guest review byAndyUnited Kingdom - Review score
Gallipoli is one of the most beautiful places in Apulia.
Gallipoli is one of the most beautiful places in Apulia. Only perhaps Lecce and Matera can compete with it, but both of those places lack the close by seaside that Gallipoli features. In Gallipoli you can spend your day enjoying dolce far niente at the beach and go and dine in one of the many great restaurants in town. The town, built onto an island on the waterfront, is very neat and developed out of medieval times and has many well maintained old and beautiful buildings. If you plan a trip to Apulia, Gallipoli is a must see!Guest review byMartinSwitzerland - Review score

Historical port city Brindisi welcomed us already for the second time. The sparkling white marble main street under the palm trees and flowers on the water front - all worth visiting, not to mention the historical sites. Learn some basic Italian - that will help to communicate with the kind local people.Guest review byVivitaLatvia - Review score

After spending 3 weeks in Puglia in late September and finding a lot of the cafes bars and restaurants frustratingly closed it was lovely to have a bustling city with beach. We spent a lot of time in the surrounds of the town too with water sports and saw lots of cyclists.Guest review byWalker
