I recently stayed at La Vela Saigon and just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our time there. The staff were absolutely lovely—so welcoming, kind, and helpful with everything we needed. Every request we had was met with a smile, and they really made us feel taken care of.
I had requested a little surprise for my boyfriend’s birthday (with an extra charge), and it was totally worth it. They really went above and beyond—it honestly exceeded my expectations and made the occasion feel extra special.
The breakfast buffet was one of the best we’ve had on our trip. So many options, and everything was fresh and delicious. It was a great way to start our mornings.
Our room was comfortable and clean, and we had a great view from our little balcony, which made our stay even more special.
We really appreciated the warm atmosphere and thoughtful service. It made a big difference. Thank you to everyone at La Vela Saigon for making our stay such a memorable one!

Asian Tradition, French Flair and Growing Modernity
With delicious Vietnamese aromas, small silk shops and ancient pagodas, the streets of Ho Chi Minh City dazzle tourists with their vibrant atmosphere. Its rich culture includes beautiful French colonial palaces mixed with modern skyscrapers that show the power of Vietnam’s economic capital.
Whether you decide to visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the City Hall, or the Municipal Theater, you’ll see the care shown by Saigonese people in preserving their historic legacy. On the other hand, the Haussmann-style boulevards are typically packed with small motorcycles that make every street crossing a whole new experience.
Contemporary Saigon can be seen in places like the Bitexco Financial Tower, located directly at central Ham Nghi Blvd. Meanwhile, Saigon Center or Zen Plaza are some of its modern shopping malls.
For a look into Vietnam’s recent history, don’t miss the Reunification Palace or the War Remnants Museum. A sunset visit to the 23rd September Park is the best way to mingle with the locals.
Indulge yourself in one of the 5-star Ho Chi Minh hotels, or stay in a budget hotel at Pham Ngu Lao Street. Don’t miss the Ho Chi Minh City accommodations on Booking.com before arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport!

HCMC is a bit overwhelming at first - huge contrast of slums next to high-rise modern buildings, clean brightly lit quiet interiors and traffic-packed roads next to narrow dirty streets with rats lurking in bushes. There are things to look at - it's history, temples and city's background - having to discover this and coming in contact with was refreshing in and of itself.
I enjoyed food - having found a good eatery was one of the brightest experiences.
I would not recommend staying here if you're not a fan of crowds, noise and traffic - finding a quiet corner is quite a task. Also, navigating it's streets also not a great experience because even if it's green light on at a pedestrian crossing - no-one waits for you as the traffic just goes around and never fully stops for you to safely cross the street.
Navigating it's buses network was confusing at first and fun experience later - for 5-6k dong you could go a distance and save your feet. Being only foreigner on a bus is fun in and of itself. Bus controllers were helpful and told about my stop in advance.
Next time I go to Saigon i'd allocate 3-4 days with a clear number of places to visit and then go to a next location.

The history is amazing and so much to see and learn. The tunnels are a must and the museums in the city complete the story. Shopping is reasonable and if you a market shopper go to Sense market where aircon and cleaner and easier to deal with.

a taxi driver stole money from me at Tan San airport , so beware , i would just use Vinasun or the light blue taxis, don't use the freelance taxi drivers they will rip you off , and if you jump into a taxi that on the dash there are 2 little silver aeroplanes on it , then abort the fare as this guy and his mates at the airport are thieves.

Great city, with an interesting, and somewhat dark history.
Great city, with an interesting, and somewhat dark history. If you come to the city go to the Art museum, its beautiful with an amazing collection of Vietnamese art (heavily influenced by French art).

Hotel is within district1 ideal to walk to main streets, Vincom shopping centre, Bui Vien street and all major attractions Ho Chi Minh city has to offer. Hotel is within district 1 do tour buses also pick you and drop at hotel. Breakfast is good with variety of choices. Hotel also provided complimentary fruits snd afternoon tea vouchers. I will definitely stay here again whenever i visit this beautiful city.
First time for us in Ho Chi Minh City and wow, we couldn't have picked a better spot for a lovely stay. We felt like Saigonese insiders staying in such a beautiful apartment located in a historical building just a stone throw away from all the District 1 sights! We'll be back and we'll pick the same apartment again!
This hotel was a great place to stay in District 1. Close to great restaurants, massage parlors and easy to walk to all the great tourists spots in the city. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful with all our needs. The rooms were really clean and the linen was always fresh daily.
Excellent location: the very center of Ho Chi Minh City (District 1) but thanks to the fact that the building is located in the courtyard - peace and quiet. In general, the noise of the big city didn't bother at all.
Cordial and helpful owner. He helped organize everything what was needed.
The hostel has a conveniently central location with comfortable rooms. I highly recommend staying here if you want to experience district 1 in Ho Chi Minh City.
